Welcome to Lairg Highland Hotel

A comfortable, family run small hotel situated in the beautiful village of Lairg. Whether you’re looking for accommodation just off the NC500, or a base in central Sutherland to explore the Far Northern Highlands of Scotland, we are an ideally located hotel.

Lairg Highland Hotel was established in April 1996, when proprietors Allan and Annette Hamilton – together with their then six-month-old son Allan –identified that Lairg village could benefit from a small informal inn. Originally a pub with rooms called The Nip Inn, we have grown our business over the last twenty years from five guest bedrooms with a small open plan dining area and bar, into a ten-bedroom hotel with bistro and two bars. As a family run establishment, we like to personally make sure our guests have the best experience possible during their stay with us.

Thistle Bistro

Hotel

We have a range of beautifully furnished single, double and twin guest bedrooms, each with individual character and full en-suite facilities, flat screen TV and hospitality tray. Certain rooms, not all, are also pet friendly, please enquire for more details.

The Thistle Bistro and Lounge Bar provide delicious home cooked meals, light bites and drinks throughout the day and into the evening. The Nip Inn Bar has a large selection of fine alcoholic beverages, including many Scottish single malts and gins.

Well behaved pets are welcome in the bar areas out with food service hours, but must always be kept on a lead. Pets are not allowed in the bistro at any time.

Facilities we provide include clothes drying area, overnight bicycle storage for cyclists and rear parking for motorcycles. For those enjoying outdoor sporting pursuits, we have rod and gun storage as well as a freezer for fish.

Located at the centre of Lairg village, Lairg Highland Hotel is close to local amenities, bus services and less than a five minute walk from the shores of Little Loch Shin. Enjoy a wide variety of countryside walks, wildlife and sites of historic interest in the vicinity.
