Community Regeneration Funding Awarded To Sutherland Organisations

A number of applications for community projects in Sutherland were awarded funding totalling £528.5K from the area's Community Regeneration Fund.

Community Regeneration Funding is an umbrella term for a number of funds that are available for communities/organisations to access in Highland. It comprises elements of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund along with the Highland Coastal Communities Fund and the Place Based Investment Programme, both of which are Scottish Government Funding streams to support economic regeneration and sustainable development in Highland.


The successful applicants were:

Golspie Golf Club - £18,765.00
Strathnaver Museum - £5,755.20
Assynt Development Trust - £90,000.00
Durness Community Group - £56,899.01
Helmsdale Heritage and Arts Society (Timespan) - £31,964.00
Assynt Development Trust - £21,600.00
Brora Development Trust - £29,163.00
Brora Development Trust - £20,250.00
Assynt Development Trust - £9,600.00
Dornoch Heritage SCIO - £18,985.00
Go Golspie Development Trust - £85,000.00
Farr North Community Development Trust - £30,360.90
Assynt Development Trust (ADT) on behalf of NorthWest2045 - £50,110.00

Cllr Richard Gale, Chair of the Sutherland Area Committee, welcoming the successful bids said: "I am delighted that we were able to grant a significant number of projects the funding they applied for. Some projects have asked for investment towards the development of playparks in the area, the introduction of wellbeing initiatives supporting vulnerable members of our communities, and the employment of several positions to work in the area."
