£4.6 Billion In New Lockdown Grants To Support Businesses And Protect Jobs
Businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors are to receive a one-off grant worth up to £9,000, the Chancellor has announced. Chancellor announces one-off top up grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses worth up to £9,000 per property to help businesses through to the Spring £594 million discretionary fund also made available to support other impacted businesses [b]comes in addition to £1.1 billion further discretionary grant funding for Local Authorities, Local Restriction Support Grants worth up to £3,000 a month and extension of furlough scheme[b] This follows the Prime Minister's announcement last night that these business will be closed until at least February half-term in order to help control the virus, and, together with the wide range of existing support, provides them with certainty through the Spring period.5/1/2021

Legal aid solicitors will benefit from a 10% uplift in legal aid fees and have access to a £9 million fund to help those experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19. Following meetings with the Law Society of Scotland, the Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf confirmed a package of further support made up of: a 10% uplift in fees to be delivered over the next two financial years.23/12/2020

As a result of the Level 4 announcement by the First Minister, which changes the start of term after Christmas for Highland schools, thousands of school pupils who are entitled to means-tested free school meals will automatically receive payment vouchers in early January 2021. Emergency grants worth £11.35 million will be split between football clubs in an agreement between the Scottish FA and the Scottish Government.
